Game Report

It was a fascinating matchup with numerous storylines at the Bell Centre. Rem Pitlick welcomed cousin Tyler, as he made his Canadiens debut. Tyler Pitlick had two shots on goal and two hits logging just seven minutes of icetime on the fourth line.

On the other side of the ice, Ben Chiarot and Claude Giroux were making their debuts with the Florida Panthers. It’s safe to say that the newest Panthers had much more of an impact on the result than Tyler Pitlick.

Ben Chiarot recorded more that 22 minutes of icetime and tallied an assist. Giroux had two assists and went 50 percent at the faceoff dot in 17:13 of icetime. Chiarot and Giroux were the two best players on the ice in this game.

The final score flattered the Canadiens as Florida dominated play throughout. Shot attempts were 62-35 for Florida. High-danger scoring chances were 19-9 for the Panthers.

It was a good game for Jake Allen. While the Panthers looked out of sync at times suffering from a five-day layoff, they still generated enough chances to test the Canadiens goaltender. He had his ups and downs in this one but Allen did his best to keep his team in the game.

Up Next

Jeff Petry suffered a lower-body injury in the third period against the Panthers.

The Canadiens close out their six-game homestand as they welcome the Toronto Maple Leafs to the Bell Centre on Saturday night.

  1. salut-bien chers amis allhabs,
    wow,florida has got punch eh!what a team!
    offense.defense.goaltending.tough to beat.
unfortunate they will have to face carolina, tampa, rangers, etc who are equally as superbe before the finals.
how often does it occurr that the top teams eliminate each other before they reach the final?
    restructuring play-off format?
always liked the top 16.1st vs 16 and so on.regardless of conference or division, etc.at this level(lnh/nhl) the teams that make the series are pretty paralell in parity for the most part.
uneven schedule has minimal merite?why should carolina meet florida or tampa in the semis and not the finals,if they are the top teams?and converslely out ouest?and what about a boston vs montreal final?toronto vs montreal final?calgary vs vancouver, etc.
de tout facon, just how some people see it eh,
    merci pour l’ecoute
    portez-vous tous bien
    familleCH,toujours
