  1. I can read lips eh. At around 1:12, Janssen goes to the other guy in the box "he hit me!" Heeheehee.

If you listen to the Blues broadcast on it, Panger is out of his mind over it. "Where's Janssen supposed to go?!" Well, you can see Price coming a mile away, Janssen made the decision to bowl into him, but at the same time what else was Price supposed to do? Hammer took his sweet time to get on the ice. If Price didn't do what he did, Janssen would have had a bit of a breakaway, or would have had the advantage to set up the Blues for another round of setting up and taking over the Habs defensive zone.

  2. This whole thing is silly. Price shouldn't be out that far. Then again, his defensemen should not be so far out of the play that Price feels like he needs to wander out that far.

From Janssen's perspective, what's he supposed to do? Give up the chase? Let Price clear it? Janssen is lucky to be in the league…he doesn't have the luxury of being soft. Letting up on the play will find him riding buses instead of charter flights. That said, I think if you watch closely, I think he actually tries to leap between Price and the boards. I truly don't think he was trying to nail Price. But these are 2 big boys. It's like trying to squeeze 10 pounds of onions in to a 5 pound bag.

To me it looked worse than it was, but I don't blame Price for his reaction, in fact I praise him for it. Any goalie is groomed to think they're not supposed to be hit like that (another debate can be had on whether or not they're right), so he reacted on instinct.

It was a perfect storm; Habs defense behind the play (again), and a collision course ensued between a goon and a goalie.

  3. I wanted a goalie fight! That would've totally been worth the price of admission… (okay, okay, so I've been dying for there to be a goalie fight for a while now. Sue me).

Seriously, what was supposed to happen there?

Price had no choice but to come out and play the puck because the defensemen were on another planet. I don't necessarily blame Janssen for bowling him over. That's what he's there for. I think it was great that Price stuck up for himself.

I don't really have any problems with that whole thing other than it could have totally been avoided if the Habs defense wasn't on another planet.
