“First of all, (Alex) Henry had him and let off him and then (Ben) Maxwell tried to stick check him and then (Mike) Glumac tried to stick check him and then (Chad) Anderson got beat, so all four of them had a little bit to do with it,” said Dogs coach Don Lever. “It was especially disappointing to lose it that way after coming back and taking the lead.”

Lever said it wasn’t just the Marlies’ winning goal that disappointed him.

“Our special teams were awful,” he noted. “The (Kyle) Chipchura line didn’t get any shots and (David) Desharnais’ line did nothing. It’s tough to win when you have two lines that take the night off.”

The Dogs had a five-minute power play of there own late in the first and early in the second after Stefan Kronwall hit Max Pacioretty with a blind-side elbow to the head.

Pacioretty, who had to be helped off the ice and appeared on the verge of collapse a couple of times, suffered a broken nose. He returned to the game in the second period.
