Second Period action:

  • Click on the above title and you will be able to listen the Hamilton Bulldogs game against the Hartford Wolf Pack which is in progress with the Bulldogs having a 1-0 lead in the first period on Ben Maxwell’s second goal of the season.

  • Pavel Valentenko just left the ice holding his wrist……..not great news as he was leading all defensemen with over 7 minutes TOI and 2 shots on net.
  • Valentenko just returned to the ice and wristed a shot on net……I guess the wrist is fine!!
  • Bulldogs are going on the powerplay for the first time in the game. The Wolf Pack are 0 for 3 so far.
  • The first PP unit is Pacioretty, Weber, Maxwell, Valentenko and Lehoux.
  • Wolf Pack kill off penalty
  • Alex Henry just fought Dane Byers and it was a draw. Earlier in the period Bulldogs tough guy Ryan Flinn laid a beat down on a Wolf Pack player.
  • Another Bulldogs PP: Weber is doing a great job manning the point, getting shots on net…..o for 2 on the PP.
  • The Wolf Pack are affiliated with the NY Rangers and have some Ranger prospect like Bobby Sanguinetti in the lineup but it’s a more veteran roster.
  • Marc Denis is having another strong game, making some good save on Hartford’s PP…..Bulldogs are now 0 for 15 on th PK for the season…great job!!
  • Another Bulldogs’ PP….Weber hits the post!!
  • 0 for 3 on the PP but Bulldogs still lead game 1-0…..end of period……22-19 shot margin in favour of Hamilton.
  • The checking line of Stewart/Russell/Maxwell accounted for the only goal of the game.
  • Bob Gainey and Julien BriseBois are the second intermission guesses for the radio broadcast.
  • Like any typical Gainey interview, nothing earth scattering. Derek Wills and Al Craig ask some easy questions. Gainey thinks Kyle Chipchura will one day play in the NHL but he believes Chipper can still gain more playing experience and ice time with the Bulldogs. He also thinks Pacioretty had a solid camp with the Habs but felt he needed to develop his game in the AHL…….once again nothing earth scattering!!

3rd Period Action:

  • Break away pass to D’Agostini, he shots but it goes high……Henry shot goes off the post.
  • I haven’t heard Shawn Belle’s name mentioned much throughout the game until now!!!
  • Denis makes a great save on a hard shot
  • Brandon Sugden and Ryan Flinn get into a fight (the third fight of the game, Flinn’s second fight) and it’s a draw!! Flinn is certainly Laraque’s replacement if he gets injured.
  • Lehoux, Maxwell, Chipchura and Desharnais are all above the 50% mark in the face-off circle.
  • Fourth Bulldogs PP…….Weber is diresting the PP with authority, good puck movement but not many shots on net……0 for 4 on the night!!!
  • David Desharnais hasn’t had a great or noticeable game as mentioned by Willis and Craig.
  • Bulldogs draw another penalty……they are just that much quicker than the Wolf Pack.
  • Desharnais and Weber are once again moving the puck around really well but not many shots on net……Valentenko is having trouble hitting the net like last year.
  • Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau hits Yannick Weber from behind and he is down on the ice…..Shawn Belle steps in and fights Parenteau and kicks his ass. Parenteau gets 5 minute penalty and a game misconduct.
  • Weber is on the bench being check out but hasn’t left the game.
  • Bulldogs will get a 3 minute PP after Belle serves a 2 minute instigator penalty
  • Maxwell has impressed the broadcast crew with his all-round game and hustle…..he’s been very active throughout the game.
  • Bulldogs score on the PP……Yannick Lehoux (Jancevski, D’Agostini) score his second goal of the season……..2-0.
  • Pacioretty is having an average game…….we have to remember that he is only 19 years old.
  • Last minute of play…..still 2-0……Hamilton are outshooting Hartford by a 29-27 margin.
  • Marc Denis was sharp and gets the shutout……he’s given up only 4 goals in 3 games.
  • Bulldogs are now 3-0 to start the season and are playing well……great beginning to the year!!
  • Bulldogs play the the Norfolk Admirals (Tampa Bay Lightning farm team) tomorrow night at the Cobbs Coliseum
