Carbonneau: "I just had a good feeling about going with Alex (Tanguay)."

An excerpt from the Canadiens.com article by Manny Almela who writes about Carbonneau’s decision to use Alex Tanguay in the 4-3 shootout win against the Bruins:

Guy Carbonneau went with another one of his trademark hunches against the Bruins on Wednesday night and Alex Tanguay is glad he did.

“There’s no formula to this, really,” said Carbonneau of his decision to send Tanguay out for the shootout. “I just had a good feeling about going with Alex.”

Tanguay took care of the rest. After watching Carey Price stone both Marc Savard and Phil Kessel on their attempts, Tanguay glided to center ice as the Habs’ second shooter before beating Tim Thomas.

“The crowd really gave me a boost there,” admitted Tanguay. “I saw the way Thomas stopped Markov by staying deep in his net. He’s a good goalie and I didn’t want to take any chances, so I just decided to go up high on him.”
