Higgins anxiously awaits green light from doctors

Here’s an excerpt from the Hockeybuzz.com article by Eric Engel who spoke to Christopher Higgins about his injured groin and when he will play:

Strolling into the Canadiens room after the morning skate, an energized Chris Higgins took his jersey off and was quickly deflated with the reality that he won’t be skating alongside his teammates to open up the Bell Centre, against the Boston Bruins tonight. “It’s pretty frustrating to watch games, and to open a season on the sidelines”, said Higgins of his situation, but never fear: “I feel good, I’ve skated pain-free for the last 5 days, and it’s just a question of waiting for the doctors to tell me I can play”.

While he hasn’t been told yet for sure, Higgins will likely be ready to go when Wayne Gretzky and the Coyotes come to town, this Saturday. In his absence, Guillaume Latendresse has fit in nicely with Saku Koivu, and Alex Tanguay, and has many Montrealers wondering what Carbonneau plans to do when Higgins gets back. While some may think placing Chris on the third line is a demotion of sorts, he certainly doesn’t see it that way.

  1. Can we please stop this nonsense about Latendresse remaining on the second line when Higgins returns.

Latendresse will be lucky to remain on the 3rd line as he will probably be eclipsed by Pacioretty for that spot.
