DETROIT (AP) – Montreal Canadiens defenceman Mathieu Carle has been carried off the ice on a stretcher after being hit by Detroit Red Wing Tomas Kopecky during an exhibition game at Joe Louis Arena.

The injury happened about five minutes into Tuesday night’s pre-season game. Kopecky hit Carle after he had passed the puck at the Detroit blue-line.
