LA PRAIRIE, QC. — Montreal Canadiens’ fans only had to wait two games for Alex Galchenyuk to score his first NHL goal and he got to do it in Montreal, in front of a packed Bell Centre crowd.
With the Canadiens up 3-1 late in the second period, Galchenyuk deflected a puck shot by Brandon Prust through his [Galchenyuk] own legs before it arced over Scott Clemmensen’s shoulder. The puck fell into the net and Galchenyuk leaped into the window before being getting mauled by his teammates.
Brendon Gallagher had an assist on the play, making this both Galchenyuk and Gallagher’s first NHL points.
