► Canadiens development camp update

• It is the final day of development camp featuring a three-period intrasquad game in Brossard at 9:30 am. The stands at the Bell Sports Complex will be open for this match.
• Mike McCarron and Charles Hudon have impressed during the first two days of scrimmages.  Nikita Scherbak and Sven Andrighetto have not participated due to injuries.
• Daniel Carr is one player who has been receiving more attention during camp. He looked good playing with Hudon in the first scrimmage.  You can read more about Carr here: Habs Development Camp: Daniel Carr, A Name to Remember
• Mike McCarron had a very strong season for the Oshawa Generals on their way to winning the Memorial Cup. On his future, McCarron said, “I haven’t really looked at where I’m going to fit in with the Montreal Canadiens, I don’t even know if I’m making the team this year, I’m just going to push as hard as I can and but myself in the best position to make the team.”
• In an interview with Marc-Antoine Godin of La Presse former 3rd round pick Brett Lernout said that due to injuries, he sometimes had to play 35 minutes per game being occasionally used on the first and sometimes second power play units. The defenceman had the best season of his career this year with 14 goals and 42 points in 72 games with the Swift Current Broncos.
• As reported in our development camp report, Artturi Lehkonen will be heading back to the Swedish Elite League to play for the Frolunda Indians for his second season. Last season he had 8 goals and 8 assists for 16 points in 47 games to go along with the 3 goals and 3 assists in 18 playoff games in Sweden.

► Habs are top brand

• In a survey conducted by Insightrix Research, it was determined that the Montreal Canadiens have the strongest pro sports brand in Canada.The survey was was taken by 2,700 Canadian sports fans; 300 in each of the nine major cities.
• The questions asked in the survey were as follows: “First team that comes to mind? Respect for the team, perception of the most loyal fans, team popularity and stadium/arena atmosphere.”
• Of the Canadian NHL teams, the Toronto Maple Leafs finished 2nd, the Winnipeg Jets finished 6th, the Vancouver Canucks finished 7th, the Calgary Flames were ranked 8th and the Ottawa Senators were in the number nine spot. The only NHL team to not make the top ten list was the Edmonton Oilers.

► Siriois gets security deal

• Sécurité Sirois Événements, a security firm well-known for special events in Quebec, has won the contract to provide services for the new Videotron Centre in Quebec City.
• Sirois already provides security for events in the Pepsi Colisee as well as Red Bull Crashed Ice and several festivals.

► Subban welcomes new teammate

• When the Canadiens selected Jeremiah Addison with their seventh round pick in the recent draft (207th overall), the young player who grew up in the Toronto area received a text from P.K. Subban.  In the message, Subban told Addison: “Congratulations! Now is when the real work begins!”
• Addison has a friendship with P.K’s younger brother Jordan, a prospect of the Vancover Canucks.
• On what the organization can expect of him, Addison told RDS, “I want to contribute offensively, but I’m here to do what the Canadian wonder. If it’s blocking shots or play in a defensive role, I will. I’ll do anything that will allow me to have a long and prosperous career.”

► Stats consultant named

• As we reported to you on Tuesday, the Canadiens have contracted the services of a analytics consultant. Eric Engels has revealed his identity: Matt Pfeffer from Peterborough, Ontario.
• Last season, Pfeffer did work for the San Jose Sharks and Hockey Canada. He will only be a consultant and will not be an employed by the Canadiens.

► Tarasenko signs

• The Blues and restricted free agent forward Vladimir Tarasenko reached a contract extension that will pay the 23-year-old $60 million over the next eight years.
• Tarasenko will be paid the same amount annually ($7.5 million) as recently signed forward Ryan O’Reilly. Tarasenko had 37 goals and 73 points this season, O’Reilly had 17 goals and 55 points.
• The Russian sniper was drafted with the 16th overall pick in 2010 and played three years in Russia before coming over to North America.
• Russian journalist Slava Malamud reported that SKA Saint-Petersbourg offered Tarasenko an $11 million contract.

► Coyotes sign Boedker

• Danish sniper Mikkel Boedker signed another one year contract extension with the Arizona Coyotes that will pay him $3.75. He had filed for salary arbitration earlier this week.
• Boedker had a mediocre season last year with 28 points in 45 games on a bad Arizona Coyotes team. He was also a minus-10.
