Bob Gainey didn’t make this decision alone, he most likely asked goalie/associate coach, Roland Melanson and his scouting staff what they thought of the goaltending situation.

Melanson would have been the best qualified to give Gainey the greatest assessment of his goalies since he is constantly working with them…….obviously Gainey has the final decision but he isn’t a stupid man and I’m sure his staff had a considerable input into the Huet trade.

Give Gainey credit for a bold and aggressive move as it will be an interesting storyline for the rest of the season which will either add to Bob Gainey’s legacy or take some of the shine off it.
