Game Report

Post-game, Flyers coach John Tortorella complimented the Canadiens saying that despite all of their injuries, they were the quicker team. It was a succinct, accurate summary of how this game played out at the Wells Fargo Center.

Returning from a road trip, the Flyers looked sluggish throughout the contest. The Canadiens won puck battles and won races to pucks. After their first period power play, Montreal was in full control of this game.

It was the Flyers 10th loss in their last 13 games.

Jesse Ylonen and Mike Hoffman combined for four points in leading the Canadiens to their 25th win of the season. After a slow start, Hoffman has been a regular in the three stars box for the past month or so.

The Canadiens continue to lean on their defence for offence since the All-Star break. David Savard’s late first period goal was the 10th by a Montreal defenceman in the last seven games.

In his first game for the Canadiens after being claimed on waivers, center Chris Tierney scored his third goal. Jack Allen was solid making 24 saves for his 13th win of the season.

What Did They Say?

Post-game Quotes

Marty St. Louis

  • “It’s rewarding for a coach to see instant improvement. As a coach you try to convince players to do things a certain way. If they are rewarded for doing so, it is easier to convince them. The whole group has decided to buy what I’m selling them.”

Josh Anderson

  • “When you lose two games in a row, you always hope to find your rhythm. We have revised some things, small aspects to improve. We managed to bounce back.”
