Game Report

Two youthful lineups faced off at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo on Thursday night. The game was filled with good opportunities and plenty of mistakes on both sides in the type of match you might expect given the inexperience.

It was a mostly back and forth affair. The Canadiens led after the opening 20 minutes with Brendan Gallagher scoring his second goal of the season. Buffalo dominated most of the middle frame with the Canadiens coming to life in the last two minutes of the period.

And the third was a wide open track meet with the teams combining for 32 shots. Kaiden Guhle scored his first career NHL goal. And Josh Anderson scored the game-winner with less than four minutes left.

Montreal picked up their first win on the road for the 2022-’23 season.

Up Next

The Canadiens will be in St. Louis to face the Blues on Saturday night. Will Joel Edmundson be in the lineup to face his former team?

Kaiden Guhle

  • “It was like there was a void in my mind when I scored. It’s really great to have a first goal on my record.”

Josh Anderson

  • “It’s nice to be rewarded. I think our line had worked hard and spent most of the time in the offensive zone.”
