The Carolina Hurricanes signed forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi to a one-year $6.1M contract. The Montreal Canadiens had seven days to match the offer or let Kotkaniemi go receiving a first and third round pick for the 2022 NHL Entry Draft in compensation.

The loss of Kotkaniemi has a good chance in looking bad for the Canadiens in the long term, but I doubt that it will match the impact that Roy’s departure had.
I follow the podcast from Zacatecas, México, great work.
Despite the lose of KK I think habs had a great team and Drouin has his second opportunity to show his talent as a center.

Drouin’s first experiment at center didn’t go well. Unless Marc Bergevin makes another move to add a center to the roster, Ducharme will likely have to use Drouin down the middle at some point during the season.
