Game Preview

A Look Back

A beat down Habs team rose to the occasion and had a monster comeback led by Nick Suzuki who had two goals and an assist. Jake Allen wasn’t great but his team bailed him out to make up for a couple weak goals allowed.

Players to Watch

  • Nick Suzuki
Suzuki has six points in his last four games and has started to shoot the puck a lot more. Known as a player maker at only twenty-one years old, Suzuki has a lot of time to grow his game and this could be a small sample size of what’s to come.
  • Brett Kulak
After a bad game by Erik Gustafsson, Kulak will be back in the line up. Kulak seems to be out of favour with coach DomDucharme and needs to prove himself to stay in the lineup.
  • Cayden Primeau
Primeau gets the start as Jake Allen played on Friday night. Primeau will play his fourth NHL game at just 21 years of age. Hopefully tonight’s game goes better then his debut this season.

Keys to Victory

  • Be motivated
After a big comeback on Friday night the Habs should be motivated and use that  energy to start a winning streak.
  • Start strong
The Habs need to get an early lead. The Sens will be a rested team and will be on them from the start. An early lead for the Habs will allow them to settle in.
  • Pounce on turnovers
The Senators are a young team and are going to make mistakes. The Habs need to take advantage of the turnovers and make then count.

Pre-game Quotes
Josh Anderson

  • “We’ve struggled playing against [Ottawa] this year, but I think every team in our division has as well. They’re a young team that works extremely hard, and it looks like they’re always in the right position and they feed off of turnovers. If we limit our turnovers, try to play behind their defensemen, cycle the puck behind their net, get it up to our point and crash their net to bang in some dirty goals, we’ll be fine tonight. But, we know that they’re going to be coming out really hard and we’ve got to be ready for that.”

 Game Expectations
With a win tonight, the Habs would not only eliminate the Sens but put themselves within two points of the Jets and third in the North division. With a beat up team the Habs could do themselves a favour and secure a playoff spot with perhaps a better matchup than if they were to finish fourth.

Bottom Line

Anything can happen in the playoffs and the Habs just need to win tonight to put themselves in a better position for the post season.
