Game Preview by Sam Gerber |
Last game : MTL 2 CBJ 5 F The Habs controlled two periods of the game but their inability to finish and some bad bounces led to their defeat. Artturi Lehkonen had another strong game and along with Joel Armia, they both found the back of the net.

Players to watch
- Max Domi
Domi was in the penalty box when Columbus went up 4-2. It may have been a bad call but Domi needs to start focusing on delivering the offense.
- Phillip Danault
Danault is on pace for a 60-point season. While his offence should be applauded it has come at the expense of his defensive play. In particular, Danault is perhaps most to blame for the Habs 31st ranked penalty-kill.
- Shea Weber
Weber is having an excellent season. As captain, he will pull the team together with the injuries to Paul Byron and Jonathan Drouin.
Keys to Victory
- Finish chances
Bad luck can be attributed to a lack of focus, but whatever the reason, the Habs have to make their chances count.
- Get physical
The Canadiens are not a very physical team but need to start laying the body from time to time to slow down the opposition when they attack the middle.
- Play smart while shorthanded
The Canadiens penalty-kill is last in the league and must start improving fast. It starts with Phillip Danault, the most used forward while shorthanded and the one who takes the most draws.

What to Expect by Sam Gerber |
Tonight is yet another game that the Canadiens should win but they’ll have to earn it. That starts with better execution than they exhibited against Columbus. The Senators are a young team with some seasoned vets that are 6-4 in their last 10 games so they can’t be taken lightly. Canadiens will honour former captain Guy Carbonneau in a pre-game ceremony, who was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. |
