T.C Denault gives a detailed account of why Bob Gainey has such a difficult time attracting UFA’s to Montreal. Player agents certainly discourage their clients from signing with the Canadiens due to the higher taxes (don’t forget that a large portion of these agents are Chartered Accountant who look at the bottom line).
