My friend who is an OHL amateur hockey scout raves about Steve Stamkos and his total skill set. He also states that barring a total collapse or major injury, Stamkos will be the first overall selection in the 2008 draft. He thinks Stamkos will continue to develop and become a #1 center in the NHL with a good chance of playing in the NHL next year. I thought that was a bit of a stretch but he’s the scout and there are other examples of 18 year old junior players like Patrick Kane, David Perron and Sam Gagner to name a few who have made the jump to the NHL with varying degrees of success.
